error while burning in EMC10

Mystical Merlin

Question

ok here are my specs

intel 2.64GB quad core processor

2GB of DDR2 ram (tried 4 but not very stable)

(3) 500GB hard drives

memorex multiformat dual layer recorder (18x DVD+R/-R)

power supply is 750w

I have 6 fnas in the tower and the temp stays at about 34C

When I try to burn dvd's I am getting a buffer under run error. I have deleted the cache, run defrag, made sure temp files are deleted, uninstalled and reinstalled roxio all thos things. this is happening both on this computer and my older one ever since i installed EMC 10. it never happened with EMC8. Any suggestions as to what i can do to correct this? I am about to go out and buy a different brand of dvd writer to see if maybe its the hardware but it seems to be happening mostly with EMC users.

Update the firmware for the burner you have now.

A buffer underrun error occurs when the flow of data from the original source, such as a hard drive or a CD-ROM drive, was interrupted long enough for the recorder's buffer to empty. The writing action is stopped when this happens, and the recordable disc may be ruined during a write operation. Are you running any other applications while burning? That can easily cause the error even with fast machines.

"Old" drivers are also known to cause this problem.
