Opening the link in Firefox just takes you to the Windows Family download link and nothing aboput the ten grand I got the same email a few hours ago and deleted it without reading it completely. However, I did win an Xbox 360 from MS whilst testing Vista for them without even knowing I entered so I have to admit, I'm partly biased when it comes to believing they'll dole out the cash. $10,000 is nothing to them. Just curious Paul, but deveating just a bit from the original post, when you were testing Vista for MS, what were some of the suggestions or possible fixes that you reported ?? Frank... Beerman
Just curious Paul, but deveating just a bit from the original post, when you were testing Vista for MS, what were some of the suggestions or possible fixes that you reported ?? Frank... Technically Frank, I'm still beta testing for them but they just don't seem to give me much direction anymore. I'm testing the OCUR (this site shows early versions of what I have now) which is using Vista Media Center with dual cablecard tuners to watch and record HD and digital cable. Basically I just record and watch live tv. Very early on (June 2006) there were problems just getting cable companies to know what an OCUR was and setting up the unit. The units I have are external and are 2nd Gen and still produce some heat but the latest ones are internal and better made. I found 14 'serious' bugs and a ton of minor ones and all have been fixed. Most dealt with signal loss and TV guide issues. When we jumped from 1 tuner to 2, the problems involved the software not knowing which tuner to use and would kick us out completely. Really, I can't say more since I'm under NDA rules but what I've mentioned has been discussed online already but the things I can't say don't really amount to much. I do have opinions which I don't feel comfortable voicing here.

gi7omy
I recall beta testing for Powerquest (Partition Magic, Drive Image and Delta Deploy) - under their NDA rules you weren't even allowed to say that you WERE beta testing in the first place

Beerman
For the record, everything I stated is already known and we have permission to discuss what I discussed. And, like I said, the few things I can't say really are not anything that would hurt if I did say them---but of course, I do honor my commitment. I get asked to test something from MS about once a month but most of the things I either no nothing about or would just be a waste of my time. Wish I could be a beer beta-tester. Brendon
Wish I could be a beer beta-tester. Would you have to spit the beverage out like wine tasters do?
grandpabruce
Would you have to spit the beverage out like wine tasters do? Bahahahhaha! Not if he is the Paul that we all know. And if he spits it out, I don't want to associate with him. Spitting isn't polite, anyway.
Beerman
I guess if I went to a beer tasting and brought my spitoon, I could collect it and bring it home for later use.

Larry
I guess if I went to a beer tasting and brought my spitoon, I could collect it and bring it home for later use. Beerman
But even then, that would only be a "drop in the bucket" for you Paul. Really don't drink much anymore as age has a way of making you pay for more than one day. Plus, drinking puts that belly on you and we just can't have that. Funny, I'm still my college weight but I drank more than and had a thinner waist but I drink less now and the waist is larger......and still the same weight. Funny how that happens. Is it gravity?
