Splicing .DMSM files together - Need help

Huss

Question

Hello everyone! I’m new to video editing and have purchased Roxio 10 on recommendation from a friend. I’ve been playing around with it for several hours now and am starting to get a little traction, but I’m kind of stuck atm and have to ask for some help.

My project is making a highlight film for a 3rd grade football team. I captured the video on a Panasonic SDR-H18 camera and have gone through several games and created 3 separate .DMSM files in Video Wave. Now I’m at the point where I want to splice the 3 .DMSM files together to create the final DVD video, but I can’t seem to find a way to do it. I spilt it into 3 because my computer is a bit on the slow side and the application seems to run much faster when dealing with fewer files…go figure.

Will someone please point me in the right direction…I only have a couple of days before the end of year banquette and I want to be able to give a DVD to each player.

Thank you!

Close VideoWave, and open MyDVD. Click on Add New Movie, browse to your .dmsm files, and bring them in. Make any menu changes you want, create chapters if you so desire, change the Menu background music, etc., then burn your production.

Thanks again GPBruce! I was looking for some sort of 'right click' option or toolbar icon. I keep messing with the video, more for practice than anything else, and there are a couple of things I'm missing that I think might be available. If you have the time and knowledge, will you point me in the right direction for these items?

1. I use an HDD camera and we made it to the championship game. I thought the kids might want to see the entire game, rather than the snap to whistle version, so my wife left the camera recording. The straight movie is fine, but when I want to make highlights the file is so huge it takes a long time and a lot of drive space to take out little clips. Is there a way I can segment large files?

As it stands now I'm using the trim feature, but it takes soooooooo long.

2. Some of the boys made some really sweet moves and I've figured out how to trim and use the slow motion feature, but is there a way I can use a slow motion in reverse?

The effect I'm going for is when a player makes someone miss, I'd like to do stop frame, reverse in slow motion, then advance in slow motion. The only way I can think to do it now is by doing a frame by frame without transition in reverse order, which I'll do but would rather use a function.

Again, thank you for you previous help and if I'm annoying you, please let me know and I'll stop.

Well...it all worked out great! I went home and created some music files then laid the tracks in VideoWave projects saved and exited and then opened MyDVD and stuck them in there. It all worked out pretty well. Thanks again for the heads up.

One quick thing. How can I get the DVD to play straight through. I had 3 separate projects and created 3 chapters. At the end of each chapter the DVD goes back to the main menu and I have to manually select the next chapter to watch. It's not that bad but it does kind of slow the momentum of the production.

Thanks everyone!

You are welcome. To make your production play through, from the beginning to end, in MyDVD, click on File, then on Project Settings, and click on the circle to the left of Play movie and all of remaining movies in project.
