problems with dvd decoder pack

Kelv

Question

i have recently purchased a laptop with the vista home basic package. As such it does not include a DVD Decoder for playing DVDs.

I purchased a Sonic Cine Player DVD Decoder pack v2.31 and installed it. Now Windows Media Player comes up with a message stating

"Windows Media Player cannot play DVD video. You might need to adjust your Windows display settings. Open display settings in Control Panel, and then try lowering your screen resolution and color quality settings."

I have tried this aswell as:

updating drivers and direct x

unchecking 'load start up items' within MSCONFIG

and unchecking the video radio buttons within the cineplayer options and yet i still have the same problem when trying to play any DVD.

My laptop specificatons are:
