cineplayer - make it go away please!

yellowdog_9

Question

warning for fairly newbi-ness....

I've switched to a different burning software, and uninstalled Roxio/Sonic ...I was burning successfully (with the other software) then had a power out, and now Cineplayer is back and lurking somewhere in the machine...I've completed all the steps for a clean uninstall (twice) plus run the Roxio zap, but Cineplayer still tries to open everytime I insert a blank DVD ( a picture of a little green CD appears/disappears beside the cursor)...then I get a hang...

the only place I actually *see* Cineplayer is in the control panel...an icon for settings, but when I open it, I get a DLL error messge

any suggestions on how to get it out?

Cineplayer is part of the Roxio package.

You said you uninstalled Roxio.

Cineplayer is therefore uninstalled and cannot lurk anywhere!

So it would appear that you did not uninstall Roxio after all…

RoxiZap does not work with V9.

It is possible that Cineplayer was part of some other software you installed.

I think GPB was suggesting that your PC sounds pretty messed up and it might be best to reformat the HD and start clean…

thanks for taking the time to reply...your fellow guru's economy of word can be a bit daunting for someone new

RoxiZap9 not working with 9 is just another *head desk* moment in my battle with the programme... to be honest, I liked the interface much more than the software I'm using now, but unfortunately, it never did seem to get along with my burner as well as the Nero that came with it...I haven't installed any other burning software, but I suppose anything is possible - its confusing, as the Cplayer icon only appears in only the one place (the control panel) - there's nothing in the registry that I have the knowledge to recognise, nor is it picked up by the "what's running" programme...since starting this thread I've read more about the FormatC and it really does seem quite out of my league

however, on the flip side - I have a very clean registry now and things are running just like new......

Format C:

Perhaps a little less drastic method before you format C:  Download and run Windows Installer Clean up. Navigate to CinePlayer and delete it. It should be listed as a separate entry. Be careful to make nothing else is selected because the program will delete the installer for that also.

oh lord - dunno how to format C but it sounds intimidating...

I have Windows Installer, but don't see an entry for Cineplayer, Roxio or Sonic...would they be listed as something else?
