How can I get this on one disc?

I have recorded a film using EyeTV and want to put it on a DVD to watch on the TV. I have edited out as much as I can but unfortunately it is just a little too big to fit on the DVD disc. Is there a way I can compress it or maybe split it between two discs?

For future reference, you could use a utility like MPEG Streamclip to split video into multiple parts that will fit uncompressed on multiple DVDs. But since you said this particular EyeTV recording was "just a little too big" tsantee's method was easier and produced acceptable compressed quality on a single DVD.

Set everything up as if you are going to burn the DVD but then choose Save as Disc Image from the File menu instead of clicking the burn button. When the disc image is finished, choose it using the Image File setting in the Toast Copy window and click the burn button. You'll be asked if you want this to fit a single-layer disc. When you okay that Toast will do additional compression and burn your DVD.
