Reduce video file size

Good day all.

 

I am very new at this, as a matter of fact this is my first video editing software. Is there a dead easy way to reduse the size of a video file so that it can be sent in email. Quality is not a real issue. I am able to convert the video clip to any of the formats that Roxio allows, but how do I get it down from about 100 megs to 10 or so.

I don't know if you can get that much of a reduction. After you have the project made in VideoWave, use the film reel icon above the preview window to Out your production. You can change the format which will compress the files.

 

I just compressed a 6 1/2 minute, 1.3 G DV-AVI file to DivX smallest size and it came out 40 MB. The video is not bad when viewed with WMP at less than full screen; expanded to full screen it is not great. My WMP played the video without a problem since I have the DivX codecs on my computer. The codecs can be downloaded here.

 

If the movie you want to e-mail is still too large, break it into several parts.

 

There are free video sharing sites out there that would be, perhaps a better option. I have not used any of them. If worse comes to worse, you can always Tube them. I think you can make them private . If not, just let your viewers know it is there and delete it afterwords.

In what format is that 100meg file? I just used Videowave to create a wmv file for e-mail (selected smallest size). A 5 minute video was converted to a 4.4meg file. If sending by e-mail, many providers will not allow attachments > 5meg

Thanks for your help everyone. I will give a try to some of the software that you recomended. As well I was able to use the output to funtion to reduce the size as well.
