Cannot Burn Video...

bnsc2

Question

I cannot burn a dvd video. The plug and burn dialog says incompatible disk. Does anyone have any idea of what to do next? I have googled this and searched this forum. I tested burning using the create a data disk and it worked for a cd and a dvd. It seems to be a problem with mydvd. Thanks for any help.

Perhaps if you explained a bit more about what your are doing, somebody may be able to help. You have given very little information to work with other then "My car won't start"

Are you using a DVD-RW disc? Are you using a +R or -R DVD disc? What is the make of the DVD burner and is it made for the type of disc you are using?. Data discs can be written on CD-R's and DVD media so it really doesn't tell us much. Plug and Burn is for getting stuff from a camcorder to DVD disc with minimal effort. Most folks use Media Import to first capture the video to the computer hard drive.

Well, I'll tell you:

I am attempting to create a video and slide show presentation with RMC8 (Create a DVD Project option which seems to use MyDVD 8). I successfully created a new video project and added a menu item as well as a slide show. I do not have any video handy, but figured adding video was easy enough and that I could add it later.

At this point, I wanted to burn a copy of my video presentation/slideshow to test. I clicked the burn button and it didn't work. The burn dialog says no burners available. I then clicked 'plug & burn' from the file menu and it says the incompatible disk.

I have used DVD+R and DVD-R media. I figured that using a CDR media would not work in a normal dvd player (like what you find on top of a TV box). The burner is a Sony DVD RW DW-U18A.

I really appreciate you all spending your time reading my post. I apologise for not putting more detail in the first post, but I didn't know what you wanted. I would like to get this car started...so to speak.

Again, thanks for any help you can provide.

I searched the Sony website and can't find a "DVD RW DW-U18A" model. There is a DRU-810A?

Also Plug n Burn only works with a camcorder connected. Suppose to be a quick and easy, no frills straight from camcorder to blank disc.

Video discs can not be altered after they are written. However, you can reload a Videowave project and add more video. Then reburn the entire project.

Actually, some will. There is a VCD and SVCD format. Some DVD players will accept one or the other and some both. Since CDs are only 700MB, the quality would be alot less than a DVD.

Please double check your DVD burner model number to make sure you posted the correct one.
