EMC10 won't start after a few weeks

cata

Question

I have Vista ultimate and installed emc10 retail version. Everything works fine but after a few weeks, when clicking on the program it won't start. I have removed and re-installed and then everything is ok but now the same thing happens, won't start anymore. Is there a solution without removing and reinstalling ?

Thanks

Yes, It is Norton One Button Checkup that zaps the registry entrys. Several posts on which entry is critical. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{3E867EE6-00C0-40FA-95C0-C9CCB3BA7692}].

Same thing is happening to me.

It happened to me with EMC 9 Deluxe and EMC 10. I have Norton ignore the key, and haven't had a problem since.

Well, you could just do a repair install but that gets old too and you should not have to do this to get your software to work. Seems that something else may be messing with it and causing problems but finding out what it is could be a challenge.

Next time it happens, try opening the programs from thePrograms Menu instead of the Home Menu. Also, you can try opening the exe files from C:\Program Files\Roxio and see if that works.

Do you use Norton SystemWorks or McAfee?

I'm having the same problem. I think it has to do with Norton. Can anyone help?

Read this; the problem is Windoctor not recognizing a registry entry and deleting it. You can set Norton to ignore the entry. That should cure it in the future.

Products other than Norton will sometimes do this also. I thought that Norton had put out n update to fix this; hopefully others will also.

I was hoping there was another solution but you are probably right. I use Mcafee and it comes with a clean up app and it cleans everything from registry to tmp files.

I will re-install the program again and will do a clean up just to see if this is the problem. Thanks

It IS the problem. Tell McAfee to ignore Roxio entries.
