Question

I am recording audio on a CD using and audio recorder. When I attempt to use the Sound Editor to import the CD to my hard disk, it stores the .wav file two folders down from the folder I specify. These folders are labeled unknown. In addition, when I use the Sound Editor to separate the audio into tracks and then export them, it adds unknown to the track name I specify. I don't want any audio tags at all. How do I prevent this?

Rename the audio tracks to remove the "unknown". Open Audio Converter and add the files. Select "convert" to rename them the way you want. BTW, you can use that to send the music files to a portable device also.

I don't know why it is putting the files in a different folder but I suspect it is picking up the artist and/or album from the CD. I think most people would want it that way so if you want it different, you'll have to do a little more work.

You might want to name those "unknown" folders. Are you importing a mix and not a commercial CD? If so, the program list unknown because it doesn't know the artist/album.

Based on your response I gather that there is no way to disable this feature which is new to version 10.

I would like to suggest to the programmers that if the audio tag editor does not select artist or album, that they no longer insert the "unknown" tags. After all, this is a sound editor and many, if not most, people using it are not editing commercial music. I am recording CDs of local shows by amateurs and having to eliminate unwanted tags is time consuming.

Thank you for your response.
