Repair Installation From Downloaded File

Chris Nicola

Question

Please can someone advise me how to perform a repair installation of Easy Media Creator 10 from the Downloaded File without the installation disk.

I went to Control Panel/Install Uninstall/ Click on Programme, Select/Modify/Repair, Then I have to browse for the location of the installation file. But as I downloaded the software and do not have the installation disk where can I find it? The downloaded file is a self extracting file. Is the installation file hiding somewhere on my machine?

Kind Regards

Chris

It's hiding within the self extracting file. Make a temporary folder, on your computer, somewhere. Name it whatever you want. Then right click on the self extracting file, and select Extract to. Browse to the folder you just made, and click ok, or whatever the prompt is.

You will need WinRar or WinZip on your computer, to do this, I think.

Thanks for the reply. I do have Win Zip. However there is no right click extract to option. This option is only available for zipped files and not for self extracting files. The computer must be extracting them somewhere but I dont know where. I could not find any information from the Roxio Website how to save the set up files to a specific location.

It worked for me, with WinZip. I have WinZip 11. You could download WinRAR, which also works.

Thanks again. I renamed the downloaded .exe file to .zip and it worked this time! However it did not work this way with the content .exe file renamed to .zip I will try downloading the content file again. If that doesnt work maybe I can try WinRAR as you suggested.

Is WinRAR a free download I can try?
