Dvd Builder - Can't Burn

mark31513

Question

When I go into DVD Builder to Burn a DVD and click on the Burn Button the status says "Incompatible Media, CD Media Project, Media DVD+R" and the Burn Button is greyed out.

My DVD drive is the following: (NEC - DVD RW ND-1300A - 1.0B).

THis drive is supposed to be compatible with DVD + and -.

I have done the following per Instructions from Tech Support:

1. Upgraded drive firmware to 1.0B - latest.

2. Updated PX Engine.

Still does not work and TEch Support has not responded back to me in 4 days.

I have been able to burn data to a DVD through this product, just not a VCD/Video.

Any ideas?

I'm a little confused, are you trying to burn a VCD or SVCD or a DVD? Maybe it is a simple setting. In MyDVD, open file/new project and make sure that what you want is selected. If it defaulted to VCD or SVCD, of course it won't burn on a DVD and vice versa.

I have to confess that I don't know the difference between a DVD and a VCD. My media is definitly a DVD, and I want to burn as a video to play in a DVD play (as opposed to burning data).

As to your suggestion, I'm using Roxio Easy Media Creator 7. The tool I am using is called DVD Builder. Is that what you mean by MyDVD. I'm not sure what you are referring to with MyDVD.

A VCD (or SBVCD) is video on a CD disc while DVD is video on a DVD disc. DVD Builder can create both types of video discs. From you original post it seems that you have placed a DVD disc in your burner but have selected VCD as your project type. To select DVD as your project type do the following:

-from the main DVD Builder menu select File, then Change Project Type and finally DVD. Also check the "Set as default" chceckbox for next time.

By clicking on the different project types you can also see a short description of each project type.

Slip of the fingers :) MyDVD is the same type of application in EMC Version 8. I did mean DVD Builder for Version 7+.

the File/Change Project Settings is greyed out! Why would that be?

You need to make certain that you've upgraded to 7.1 ( Extras & Utilities\ Updater).

Then you need to change the PROJECT TYPE - not the settings.

Hope that helps. :)
