pixelated/tiled dvd output

bob_tompkins

Question

I can create CDs with no problem, the problem is with dvds only.

If I download a TIVO program and burn it to dvd on my desktop using Sonic Digitalmedia Plus v7, the dvd is pixelated whether I play it on my computer or on a dvd player. I have 2 burners installed: Plextor 716A and a DL Lightscribe drive. I have tried burning to both; same result, unusable dvd.

I also get a pixelated, unusable dvd if I try to copy a dvd. This occurs whether I'm trying to copy using Nero2, Roxio EC 9, 1 Click DVDCopyPro 2, Sonic Digital Media Plus v7.

However, if I transfer the file to my laptop, I can use the same Sonic software and burn it to my laptop's dvd burner and get a perfect new dvd or copy.

I'm using XP, AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2 Ghz processor, 2GB RAM.

Help! I don't know where to begin to solve this problem.

Thanks,

Bob Tompkins

Its probably because you have a OEM version that came with you HP computer.OEM versions do not have all the features that are available with the full retail version.

You're right, it is an OEM version. However, I also have a retail version of Creator 9 installed. I tried copying a dvd using it (and verifying "interlaced"). No help; still pixelated.

Someone else suggested it might be the on-board chipset. I may install a graphics card and see if that helps.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

I've looked all over Sonic software and DVD device manager for the "progressive" vs. "interlaced" choice. I can't find it. Help!

In MyDVD, under "File" on the tool bar, there is a sub menu "Project Settings".

Right side of the screen, midway, there is the choice for interlaced or progressive.

When I try to use "progressive" instead of "interlaced" I get pixelated output.

Make sure "interlaced" is checked and see how that goes. I am not in front of my rig right now so I can't tell you exactly where the setting is. I believe it is under project settings / rendering options.

I am using My Sonic Digital Media Plus v7 and there is no "project Settings" on the "File" menu. Are you using a later (or older) version of Sonic?

You didn't say what your graphics card is. If it's an onboard chipset, that coule be where the problem lies

It is an onboard chipset....should I install a video card?

I just installed an Nvidea GeForce 8400GS PCIe 256MB graphics card. I verified "interlaced" on Creator 9...still have pixelated output. Any other suggestions?
