Internet heading for meltdown?

"Johnson likened the problem to a series of broad interstate highways. Traffic is flowing smoothly on the multilane highways, but the narrow access ramps that lead to those highways are clogged with cars waiting to get on."

The only bad thing about this senerio is that once the ramps are opened up to let everyone on, the freeway just becomes a bigger parking lot. And with the same effects, the internet just becomes clogged up. Hey, how about a "Diamond Lane" path for the the internet ?? Now they call it an "HOV" (High Occupancy Vehicle Lane) So we could call it an "HOIL" (High Occupancy Internet Lane).:lol:

Frank...

There are people who would love to do this Frank, because it opens up opportunities to make lots of money for ISPs by creating a privileged class or upper layer of users who are willing to pay more to have their traffic "prioritized" while those who can't afford to pay so much are consigned to the net-ghettoes at near dial-up speeds.

Net Neutrality would be straight out the window, and I think it would be the thin end of a very bad wedge.

Brendon
