Need advice on output choices

jroc

Question

For about six years I'v made an annual family slideshow of all our activities together. My wife and I recently bought an HD 1084i television, our two daughters and their families have standard TVs but both expect to eventually upgrade to HD. My question is, from all the choices offered when outputting a slideshow which would offer the highest quality for viewing on both HD and standard TVs? Also, am I right in assuming I should stick to 4:3 rather than 16:9 until the other two families upgrade to HD televisions?

I would think that unless you have a HD or BlueRay burner (and player) there is only one quality available: the standard, best quality DVD. The 4:3 or 16:9 should not have anything to do with quality.

I may be wrong inwhich case I will be quickly corrected
