Hello,

With this product changing hands so many times, I'm not sure where to go.

I am trying to find out if the version I have (Build: 600B68A (Std) Version 6.0.0) is the most

current.

If not, how can I upgrade and is there a cost?

Thanks

It may not be the most current . level, but even BUMP 2006 is version 6. There was a version 7 that came with EMC9, but it was not a full featured product. It did not have DR capability.

Brendon, you are correct in all your assumptions. I just hate having to keep typing BackupMyPC all the time, ergo BUMP. Same with EMC.

I do not think an earlier version of BUMP 6 will update to the BUMP 2006 point release. Nor will 2006 go to the 7 version. They did have an update with the version 7 that came with EMC 9, I beleive, but I do not know if that restored the disaster recovery capability.

Have been waiting patiently for a standalone version of 7 (or higher), but am beginning to lose hope, since it has been about 3 years since v6 came out and over a year since the packaged v7 came out.

Thanks... when I click on help then check for updates, it opens a URL:

http://www.migosoftware.com/store/bump_upg...?SourceID=BPES6

which in turn comes back with page not found

Of course as soon as I posted this, it worked.

The only reference to backup product is:

PC BackUp 8

Try PC BackUp 7.5 for 30 days before you buy. The trial version contains all the functionality of the full version > Try Now!

Download the PC BackUp 8 Manual > PC BackUp 8 Manual

Download the PC Backup Updates to the newest working version > PC BackUp 7.3.1.3 Update

Is that the one I want? THe last line - update to newest working version 7.3.1.3?? What features does this have vs. 6.0?? Is this a free upgrade? If not, wonder if the new features are worth the cost.

Thanks

PC Backup is not BUMP. Different product all together. I believe it is a version of NovaBackup sold through Migo or what used to be Stomp.

Have tried it, Nova version, and it works okay, but very slow.

Did you happen to buy your version through Stomp or in Stomp packaging? That may be why you get sent there.

Marlin

Thanks for the reply.

I'm not sure what you mean (forgive me) by "bump 2006", "EMC9" and "DR Capability"

My apologies... could you clarify please...

Thanks

Thanks.... I honestly don't know where or when I bought it. I know the owning company has changed hands a few times - veritas, stomp etc.

Migo owns it now I take it?

I dont have any of the Easy CD Creator products. I just have BackupMyPc (formerly backup exec). Just trying to find out if there is a newer version/update. I'm on version 6. It works fine for me, but if there is a newer version that i'm entitled to...

Thanks again

I believe the sales under Stomp were license sales. Veritas sold the software to Sonic who then allowed Stomp to sell it under their name for a while, and selling it under the Sonic name at the same time. After purchasing Roxio, Sonic started selling under the Roxio name.

I can almost guarantee that the only way to get a newer version is to purchase one. Personally I would wait until a new version comes out from Roxio, assuming one will.

Hello,

"bump" is a nickname for BackUp My PC, and "BUMP 2006" is one version of the program.

"EMC9" is Roxio's Easy Media Creator version 9, the version prior to the current one, which is EMC10.

Marlinsinger may have meant Disaster Recovery when he mentioned "DR Capability". A disaster recovery backup set is a set of discs which hold your operating system and its settings as well as your files. In case of a larger than usual mess this set should restore your system to the state it was in when you made the Disaster Recovery set. Not all versions of BUMP will create a Disaster Recovery set.

The latest version of BackUp My PC that I have seen is version 7.1.0 (called BUMP 7), with Easy Media Creator 9.1.

The best way to see if there are upddates for your version of the program is to run BUMP and then go to Help > Check for Updates. If your version can be updated, it will show when you do that.
