BackupMyPC - not deleting file first

DeputyDawgAtl

Question

Using backupmypc version 6.0 for a while now and everything has been working fine.

I backup to a file on another physically separate hard drive each night - one night is a FULL the others are incremental.

These are all scheduled. What used to happen (and still does on the incremental) is that before writing the backup, it deletes the previous file and then creates the new file.

The full backup used to do this. I made a change to that nights schedule to an earlier time. That is all I recall doing. Now it doesn't delete the file first. Since this file is HUGE, it aborts.

Any thoughts??

I have a feeling that the scheduler change is what caused the problem. I would try deleteing the file the first night and see if it will continue to delete files after that. The change may have made it think it was a different job you are using and that it shouldn't delete the previous file.

Marlin,

I tend to agree with you. Since posting this, I went into the scheduler and saw two entries for the same full backup on Sunday. I deleted one.

I can always create another full backup with the same name... then see what happens this sunday. I go out of town next week and don't want to risk this not working.

Appreciate your comments..

I deleted one of the entries from above comment. I ran a FULL backup yesterday but gave it the same name as the one that is scheduled to run tonight. I suspect it will work now. Will see.

My Full backup (just data) starts sun night about 11pm and finishes mon am about 9am ish (does a backup and verify)...
