Skips Video Frames

TCMFan

Question

When I use the split button the audio splits at that exact point but the video frame jumps ahead. The results are that you hear the audio but you see a frozen frame until the audio catches up to the video. This wasn't happening when I first upgraded to EMC10. Anyone else with this problem?

It takes up RAM while converting and I can't use my computer until it's done.

Of course it takes RAM while converting, all video programs require lots of RAM while converting. Most video programs recommend that you not try do do anything else while doing converting or rendering.

What are your system specs, especially video card? How much RAM and free space on your hard drive do you have?

There are hundreds of possibilities. Cluttered, dirty, or fragmented hard drive, Not enough free space. To many other things running. You security software playing around with your registry. Something you installed after you installed this program.

Have you updated your video drivers lately? Try switching to software rendering bu going to tools, options and put a dot near software. I assume that you are using VideoWave to do the editing?

What type of video file is it compared to previous projects - AVI or mpg2. What computer hardware do you have?

I'm trying to edit out commericials from TiVo files. I read somewhere on the boards that mpegs have I-frames and compressed frames so I wondered if this could be the problem. I converted the file to .avi and it works much better but it is time and memory consuming. Also, it worked before with the TiVo files; so maybe it is a free space problem or too much running in the background.

I'll try switching to software rendering as you suggested. Thanks for your help.

It doesn't consume memory. It consumes hard drive space, which is not the same thing as memory.
