Rick D
The KB has some info posted here. Thanks, I checked it out but don't think that's the problem. I have the NVIDIA 8500GT with the latest driver, it is DirectX 9 compliant. I can run the AVI file in the "disc Copier in Creater 9 and it converts it to a mpg and sets up a basic DVD. It seems to hang in My DVD and My DVD Express. Also if the file is already an mpg My DVD willl accept it. I have done this before using the AVI but now it throws an error and I hate using separate programs when one should (and has in the past) worked. Thanks Rick

Thanks Rick Rick, is it just that one AVI that does this are a number of them? If just the one, it could be there are parts that are corrupted. I've seen many people report this error and it seems it's not always the same problem so it's hard to say why this works for some and not others. gi7omy
One other possibility - did you reemmber to completely uninstall the older drivers first before installing the new ones? That is - force it back to the basic windows 16 colour display
