editing/trimming video? (complete newbie!)

Kimmerie

Question

Hi all -- I'm using Roxio to burn DVDs of programs from TiVo-To-Go, and so far all is going so smoothly (knock wood!) that I feel brave enough to venture into slightly more complex waters.

Here's what I would like to do:

I have news broadcasts of which I would like to keep only a small section - I don't need the whole 2 hours, just the 5 minutes that we were in! It seems like I could do this using the Trim or Set Start/End Point features, but those are greyed out on my screen.

So my questions are:

1) is that the way I want to do such editing?

2) is my version supportive of that feature, and I'm doing it wrong, or do I need to upgrade?

I have, let's see what it says on my CD.... "Roxio Creator & MyDVD 9.0 DE"

I'm running on WIndows XP 5.1, Service Pack 2.

If I need to give more info just let me know what (and where to find it?)...

thanks,

Kimmerie

Where would VideoWave be found? I don't think I have it but I can't tell for sure.

I feel like Trim would be sufficient... all I want is to chop the program down so that I only keep minutes 36 through 41 (for example). I cued the video to the right start point, and then tried to select either Set Start Point from the little bracket underneath, or Trim from the menu, but they're both greyed out. Am I not using them correctly?

thanks!

You need VideoWave to do and frankly we have no idea what is included in the Dell Edition…

If it has VideoWave, go there. If all you have is MyDVD Express, you only have 'Trim' which only operates on the beginning and end of a movie clip. You would need to buy a full retail version to have all of the editing features.
