Multiple Data Disc Burn Errors

fooman

Question

Hiya!

I had EMC 8, bundled with something... couldn't find it to reinstall on my new machine, had no order since it was bundled so i couldn't redownload... so I bought EMC 10. Cool, whatever.

I use it to burn disc-spanning backups. I have now wasted 6 DVDs on my attempts to burn a project, 10Gb across 3 DVDs. Why is this so difficult? Nothing is running except for Roxio, and my PC is more than well-equipped.

Any ideas?

Thank you for any help.

=)

I haven't a clue why it would. Any error messages? Try a different brand/type of media. Make sure that your burner has the latest firmware update.

I tried it in my external Plextor drive, rather than my stock burner in the PC tower, and it worked out alright.

I try to leave my data discs to my stock drive, but whatever works I guess....

Slow your burn speed; change your disc brand; update your stock drive's firmware - something like that.

I can't be specific because you haven't said what error you get or what stage the error arrives at, but those would be general suggestions.

Spanning discs has always been bad practice. You are better off splitting of the files and burning them to 3 discs using Creator Cassic.

I tried spanning discs, once, in a previous version of the software and never did it again.

That is a pain.

I'm trying to back up some projects I do w/ audio sequencing software. It's all in a single folder, so 10Gb of disc spanning should be easy. I don't feel like manually doing things the software said it can do for me.

Either way, why does it fails 2/3rds of the burns I attempt.
