EMC10 Runs then Stops

oorion

Question

I have successfully installed EMC10 two times, but after a few days it stops. I did the clean uninstall, removed everthing Roxio and Sonic, reinstalled and it worked fine. A day or two later nothing in the EMC10 suite works including the EMC home page.

Before I tried install the first time, I had Roxio 6 working fine. I did not uninstall Roxio 6. EMC10 would not install. I got rid of all Roxio before the second install try. EMC10 worked fine. It quit working a few days later. Did the whole thing , clean and reinstall, again and got the same results.

I did not turn off my Norton Virus nor SpySweeper during these installs. I thought I would do that, but each time it takes hours to clean and reinstall. Any other ideas on how to KEEP EMC10 running after a successful install? I am suspicious of my Norton One Button which I did once. Should I just NEVER use Norton One Button if I get EMC10 to working again?

Thanks

Norton Systemworks has been known to cause problems in v9 and in v10. For some reading, take a look at this thread. and set Norton not to fool with certain files.

Ok. Looks like EMC 10 has been running fine for about three days. I have set Norton ONE BUTTON CHECK to ignore the one key. I will run OBC and see if EMC 10 crashes again. It looks like that setting this IGNORE in OBC is all that needs to be changed to get EMC 10 working. I did have to do a COMPLETE clean of Roxio and Sonic including register, files, and services. I even did a final search on both to make sure there were nothing else there before I started the re-install. Roxio Tech Service was little help.

I hope that it works for you now. I don't use the OBC, but I do use WinDoctor, which is the part of OBC that causes the problem, if it deletes that registry entry.
