MPEG-2 Activation

turquoise

Question

"The following codec(s) must be activated before using the application: MPEG-2"

"Click OK to activate, or Cancel to abort"

(after clicking OK, I get)

"no permission - bad installation"

I had the same problem with a download of EMC 9. I just bought a box version of 10 figuring Roxio must have resolved this issue by now. Uggggg. I tried all the fixes that were previously posted for version 9. What a frustrating waste of time. Is their any hope of a patch to fix this know issue? Any new solutions for version 10?

You will have to do a clean install (follow the instructions on the board here).

EMC 10 does not have that module so what is happening is that you have the part of EMC9 left behind (and that's what's causing it)

Make sure you have ALL Roxio files removed. There is a hidden folder (in XP in C:\Documents and Settings\Username called 'Application Data - you will have to go to tools, folder options and set that to 'show hidden files and folders' and in that you will find Roxio and Sonic folders which also have to be removed

Well, that sure is a clean install. I followed the instructions to the letter and it work! Thanks so much. I had been very thorough removing version 9, however, I think my problem was due to some remnants of an older sonic program that came with my Dell. Anyway, thanks for your help.
