Soundblaster Extigy not recognized

keangl

Question

I just purchased and installed EMC 10 for the purpose of ripping vinyl LPs. To get the best quality, I'm using a Soundblaster Extigy device for a sound card instead of the sound card on the motherboard.

EMC 10 doesn't offer input from this device in the capture from dialog. This device is set as the default sound recordind device in control panel Sounds and Audio Devices. Other audio input programs do see it and I can record from it.

How do I get EMC 10 to see it?

Failing that, can I take a wave file recorded via another program and run it through EMC 10 to split into tracks, etc.?

Do you still have onboard audio turned on? If so, that could cause problems. If Windows sees your card fine then EMC should as well.

Also, check your settings for Record, in the control for the audio card. Double click on the speaker icon, in your tray, click on Options/Properties, then click on Recording, and make sure all is checked. Then, click OK, and put a check in What You Hear.

That is the setup with my older Audigy2 Platinum system, so yours may vary.

Are you running XP or Vista. In XP it's like Paul and Bruce said. You should look for an input that says Line-in.Make sure it is there and not muted in the places Bruce stated.

If you are using Vista there is a different way to check.

If Vista go to the control panel, sound and look at the recording tab.Right click one of the entries you find there. When the menu comes up make sure you check "Show disabled devices" .Now check to see if Line in shows as a device in the recording tab.If it does make sure to enable it and make it the default device for recording.

Now go back and see if Roxio sees it.
