Editing / adding menus / manual

Video Newbie

Question

I am completely confused. I have transferred a tape to my PC, created a project with VideoWave (including removing unwanted scenes etc) and burnt a DVD that plays nicely. But I can find no info on how to add a menu to my project. I went into VideoWave - nothing. Into MyDVD - it said it couldn't open my VideoWave project. Going to Help and looking for menu told me how to change my menu settings but didn't tell me how to create a menu. A manual is essential for a product as complicated as this but I can't find where to get one off the web - even a version 9 one would be a start.

A suggestion - either rename the components to give them meaningful rather than cute names or add a decent description for them to the main menu.

So , to put it briefly, how do I create a menu, please?

I think you left out some information. How did you burn your production to a DVD? What did you do, after you created your production in VideoWave? Did you start your production in VideoWave?

Unless you moved the files, that you used to create your production, there is no reason why MyDVD won't bring your VideoWave production in.

MyDVD is where you make menus for your production.

You seem to not understand how it all works. VIDEOWAVE is the 'editor'. That app does the cutting, adding transitions, effects, etc. That is all that it does! It uses it's own file format to save these edits (dmsm).

MyDVD is for DVD authoring which creates the actual DVD menus and submenus. That really what it is designed to do ALTHOUGH it does have limited editing ability (which is actually Videowave embedded). It has its own file format (dmsd) to save the edits you do to the menus.

Since these are totally different formats, MyDVD can not 'open' Videowave files (dmsm). You need to 'Add image/Video' and then choose the Videowave project file.

If the components seem to have names that you aren't familiar, then perhaps you need additional reading material. There are plenty of websites for beginner video editing. There you can learn the terms that most programs use.

To answer your question on how to create a menu:

Open MyDVD

Add a video or Videowave project file

Done

MyDVD ALWAYS OPENS to a default menu.

EMC 10 retail box should come with a manual. Click here to get a copy.

It is a PDF so you need Adobe Acrobat to open it.
