I would like to work on my latest movie over the holidays but will be away from my desk top, If I install my copy of Movie Creator on my wifes laptop (which also runs xp) will I have issues switching back to my desktop when I return to burn the final edited copy?

Three issues....

The program makes proxy files, pointers (cuts edits) to do the final DVD when authored. All those files would have to be transferred back on the pc in the correct place to be seen by it!

Laptops have onboard video chips that have a track record of not working the best with VideoWave.

The user agreement allows for one copy of the software license on one PC....

cd

ok, thanks for the tips. The 1 copy I figured but did not think about the edit clips etc. And the onboard chip I never thought about either. I guess the video waits till January.

If you really want to work on that video during the holidays, consider getting an external hard drive and store your video and your VideoWave editing files on that drive.

That way you can use either computer to edit the video.

You might have to wait and use the home computer to burn the DVD if the laptop doesn't have a videocard capable of doing the job.

Editing the video takes the most time, so taking time during the holidays to edit it makes a lot of sense.

If you decide to invest in an external hard drive, please check back and we'll go through the defaults that need to be changed. :)

The editing should work fine for the video, But unless the laptop also has EMC installed, you will definitely have to wait till you get back to the computer that does have it installed to burn the DVD as you need the EMC program (MyDVD) to do that.

Wrong program, Frank.

VideoWave Movie Creator takes you from start to finish within the Movie Creator program.

*edit* It's also not as 'picky' about the videocard requirements.

Yeah, you're right ml. Thanks for the correction. I'm just not used to seeing these posts about some of the other versions of the programs, so I just assume it's the obvious. I sure didn't take my smart pills on that one. <_< Beers on me :D

Thanks guys, I have not been on in a few days but that is a great idea. I have one of those that I store my old photos and needed old files. I just have to install the software on the laptop for it. Its a small one 40gig but perhaps it will do the job. I will change the default save files to that drive.

Have a great Christmas everyone, thanks alot for the help this year!
