Missing Easy Audio Capture gadget in Google sidebar in Vista

atjm

Question

I have a new Dell PC with Vista (32 bit). I installed EMC 10 without any major issues, The Dell did come with a basic verision of EMC 9, but when I installed EMC 10 I did not see any error messages. the problem is that I do not have any of the Roxio gadgets including the easy audio gaget. I did go look for it to try and add it to my side bar but there are no gadets from Roxio listed in the gadgets window. I also tried getting the to easy audio capture from the media manager and it is not listed there also?

Ok,I took a look at this.Go to Control Panel,Programs,Programs and Features,go down to Roxio EMC10 Suite and highlight it.At the top of the screen hit Change and when the next box comes up make sure Modify is checked.Hit next and when the screen comes up go all the way to the bottom. The last 2 entries are A/V Gadget and Easy Audio Capture Gadget.Open them one at a time and hit "this feature will be installed on local hard drive".Hit next and the Gadgets should get installed.

I tried what you stated. Both items went through the installation and at the end I received a "fatal error on installation"?? After reading some of the other posts I checked my programs and see that my Dell came preinstalled with Roxio ED. I uninstalled each of those programs after I installed EMC10. I am thinking I should uninstall everything and reload EMC10. Do you agree?

It would probably be the wise thing to do.Follow the Clean Install instructions found here for V9.For V10 use Add/Remove from the Control Panel.Make sure you get all the entries.Run a Registry cleaner afterwards if you have one. Then reinstall 10 and watch for the chance to add them at install.

Open up the Home menu and click on the 'Audio' tab on the top left. Then, look on the listing on the right side. Do you see Easy Audio Capture listed near the bottom of the list? If not, then there might have been a problem with the install.

I'm not at a Vista system but you should have 2 Roxio gadgets listed when you open the Gadget toolbar.

I checked again and no easy audio capture listed.

I can't remember for sure but wasn't there a place during install to check to get the gadgets to install?I know you're using Vista 32 but there is a known problem with Vista 64 and the gadgets.Anyways, the Knowledge Base says to try a manual install.First look at Add/Remove Programs and see if the Gadgets are listed if so uninstall them. Then try and go to the install disc and look for EMCGadgets32.msi and see if you find it.If you do try and run the file and see if it installs them.

I don't know that this will work but it's worth a look.

I'm not at my Vista EMC10 machine or I'd check it out myself.

Fixed - after performing all the steps to remove EMC9 and reinstalling the gadgets were still not there. The hit me. The sidebar that was loaded on my new Dell was the google sidebar and not the windows vista sidebar. Once I closed the google sidebar and opened the windows vista sidebar the gadgets were there. Thanks for all your help.
