Menu audio limited to 30 sec?

Shane72

Question

Hi,

I'm new to MyDVD/EMC10. I've chosen a MP3 to play as the main menu audio, but it loops back to the beginning after 30 seconds. Is there a way to extend this?

Also, is there a way to start a new project with NO template? I'd like to make mine from scratch.

Thanks!

Shane

Hi ggrussell

Was the problem of having the custom menu default to 30 seconds when you reopen ever fixed in 9 or 10?

And if you reset it to the duration you want will it accept the change when you burn the project and be presented with the extended duration in the resultant DVD? This is a great get for me if this is how it works.

Also is there any work around to more than 4-5 chapters on any menu? And can you generate a second menu, not a submenu? When you exceed 4 or 5 chapters on the main menu it automatically asks you if want another menu. I want to put less than 4 or 5 chapers on menus without going to a sub menu. Es posible?

Thanks

1: No, as far as I know that problem still exists. You will need to reset the menu each time you open it.

2: I need to be clear - THERE ARE NO CHAPTERS ON THE MAIN MENU. MyDVD treats any video added to the main menu as a 'title' or movie. They are not and never will be 'chapters'. Just like a commercial DVD, MyDVD creates a sub-menu for the chapter buttons.

I see no way to force a second Main Menu. Only sub-menus. Use a different template like BeatStreet which only has 3 title buttons. You can then customize the background, etc.

Generate a second menu? Give this a try:

If you know the maximum number of titles that the menu style allows, try to bring in more than the maximum. For example, if the menu style only allows 4 titles, bring in five titles so that the 5th title forces a second menu. Go back to the first menu and delete any unwanted title(s). Go to the second menu and add more titles.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for your reply Gary.

My apologies for addressing titles as chapters. I am clear on the appropriate nomenclature.

When I add 4 or 5 movies to the menu the program states I have reached the limit, and asks if I want to create a new menu, not a sub menu. If I respond yes it creates a new menu page which is also customizable. The first menu acquires a right directional arrow which you click on to get to the next page. If I create a submenu a bottom pointed down directional arrow is created. However I have not been able to call up this "additional menu" unless I add 4 or 5 movies. I like how it is presented.

I presume that my newly created extended menu will burn to disk, but as mentioned even though it is saved whenever it is reopened it will default bach to 30 seconds duration.

Something I found interesting when customizing what I call my second menu or second page: If you change

your background music before you change your menu background the audio will be truncated, and only a blip of 5-7 seconds will play. I tried it on several different systems. However if you add the audio last it will play for the 30 second default. Ever come across that?

Regards,

Bob

Read this and watch the video. It is for EMC 9 but it works the same in EMC 10.

Remember a blank DVD only hold so much data. If you have a longer menu, it takes up room, too. Could run into problems if your project is really close to one hour long.

Sorry, there is no way to create a 'blank' menu. To make your own, you must start by changing an existing Template.

Thanks for the quick reply and information! Thanks for the heads-up on the hour-long cut-off, too-- I just realized when I did a test burn that there was just a few MBs left on the disc!
