Roxio Easy CD burn will not let disk eject.

This is a typical Google search on this issue:

http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navc...k+won%27t+eject

Obviously, this problem is epidemic and Roxio doesn’t have any interest in fixing it.

I have asked Roxio what to do about it 15 or 20 times and they either just completely ignore me or they return instructions that are not even vaguely related to the question.

Do any of you users know how to fix this problem?

Two ideas occur to me about simultaneously:

Without any idea of which Version, which applications within the suite, what you are trying to do, or what your computer specifications are, the questioh is impossible to answer.

If you are using Packet-Writing (DirectCD or Drag2Disc), particularly if using with WinXP, you are just before the "where did my data disappear to?" stage. That's why Packet-Writing isn't recommended as a means of backing up data for the long-term.

The version is 6

What I am trying to do is eject a disk.

I am not using any of the applications.

ALL I am trying to do is eject a disk that I put in because I wanted to see something on it.

I haven’t used the Roxio programs for weeks and probably never will again.

I just want to eject the disk.

It was formatted and I used to use it.

Google this:

Roxio won’t eject disk.

You will get references to this problem ad infinitum. Obviously I am not the only person to have ever experienced this mess and it happens in ALL versions regardless of what applications are being used or NOT being used.

If you formatted it, you put it under the control of Drag to Disc - you have to close the discs before ejecting

Anyway - one sure-fire way of having to come back here to find out how to recover lost data. D2D has the reliability for long term storage of an igloo in Death Valley

If you want to do backup, then I'd suggest you think outside CD authoring software and get a dedicated backup program - there are a lot of free ones available, try here for a start

Drag to Disc is fine - IF you are only using it for a quick transfer of files from one machine to another - for long term storage or backup, it has all the reliability of an igloo in Death Valley, especially coupled with RW media

I just tried to open a CD made with D to D in a computer that doesn’t have Roxio on it and it won’t open.

Apparently all the backup disks that I made with Roxio are useless unless opened by Roxio.

I don’t know anything about these dedicated backup programs but I am about to learn and I thank you for pointing me at them.

I have wasted a lot of time for nothing with this Roxio mess.

Can you summarize in a sentence or two, how this dedicated backup software works? Were does the data get stored and how do you access it later?

Use Creator Classic, and you won't be wasting any time or discs. They will read on other computers, and no formatting of the discs is necessary.

OK I found it and it came with Easy CD & DVD Burning V 6.

Does this mean that I can dump this obnoxious D2D mess and never have to see it again and still do my burning…………….and eject my disks without an act of congress?

If the idea is NOT a backup (the kind of thing you need the originating program to retrieve the information), either make regular data discs using Creator Classic and CD-R, or get a Flash drive (aka Jump / Pen / Keychain / Thumb drive) or External Hard Drive - they're pretty cheap these days.
