txhope
I go through the process, but when it comes to saving to a DVD, it says that the drive is empty. I tried DVD+R, DVD-R, but nothing works. It only lets me save to the hard drive. I'm using Windows XP, Easy CD & DVD burning. If anyone has any ideas, please help... lynn98109
The first thing you need is a DVD burner. Software will not add the additional laser setup to burn DVDs, which are different from CDs. What is the id string of your burner - right-click MyComputer > properties > hardware > Device Manager > click on the CD-ROM icon and copy off the id string character for character, upper and lower case exactly, and space for space. txhope
Closest I could find in google was http://club.cdfreaks.com/f61/who-manufactures-drive-136334/ TSST Corp CDW/DVD TS-L-462A, and that L may make a major difference. However the info there jives with what I suspected - you have a combo drive, i.e., it reads & writes CDs, and reads (only) DVDs. To burn a DVD you will need a DVD burner. Lynn Thanks! It makes sense now.

james_hardin
Thanks! This is what it says: TSSTcorp CDW/DVD TS-462A I cannot get that model to show up under and search… Closest I can get is a CDRW/DVD TS-462B or C… None of these are DVD Burners. As Lynn pointed out, no software in the world can makeup for missing hardware.
