EMC 10 Won't Install, or Won't Launch, or Certificate File Missing Error

In the last few days, I experienced all the issues referenced in the title of this thread. I believe I was the victim of McAfee's Registry Cleaner.

Anyway, I found and followed the "clean install" instructions (Knowledge Base article 000086CR) referenced elsewhere in the forums, but ran into other problems such as the Certificate File Missing or Corrupt issue. So, I submitted a web ticket to Roxio. Here is their response:

Thank you for Contacting Roxio Technical Support

The Roxio Customer Care Team

Note step 2c above in bold. This was missing from the other information I found. I was not able to fix my Roxio problem until I removed the directxinstallservice item.

Just hoping this might help someone else going through the same frustration I did.

Good Luck.
