burns single layer not DL

Jeans

Question

I know problem is with my burner as I can burn to file. My DL will not copy but if I shorten the project and burn to a single layer it will burn. So, is there a separate laser when burning to DL? I have been burning alot of dual layer projects in this drive without problems so can I wear out lens? I can't post specs with this post as I am out of town and on a laptop and can't recall all of them. Can someone educate me how a DL burner works?

Forgot my specs are there. I have just upgraded to 10. I got a 80054003 error at the end of the burn. So then I tried to copy the ISO file. Wouldn't copy it. Then I shortened the project and copied it straight to a single layer disc and it played perfectly in a dvd player. Only other thing I could think of is one of the 4 video clips could be corrupt. Would that be possible?

There are both 'plus' DL and 'dash' DL. Are you sure your burner can address the type you are using?

250 minutes = 4:10 hours. That is quite a bit considering a DL disc can only hold about 1:57 hours at Best Quality…

I know that sounds like alot but I have burned about 150 similar projects thru this burner, just like this one without any problems using creator 9.

Instead of using the "copy disc" part of the EMC 10 Home app, open up the Video Copy & Convert app and use it to burn that ISO file to your DL disc.

I will be back home Sunday and will give it a try thanks. Will post the results.

My project length is 250 minutes and I did both, burn and ISO file at same time. I did not watch the burn so don't know at what point the error message appeared. But a corrurpt ISO may be why I can't burn the ISO file. However the error message when I try to burn the ISO file refers to my disk. I created the project in MY DVD and burned and made ISO file from there. Later I right clicked on the ISO file and chose creator 10 to copy it. So think it was copy disc module that opened. Also I was assuming the error message was at the end of the burn as the disc looked completely burned, looking at color change.

When I get back home I will delete that ISO and just save to file then try another burn. Also will clean my laser. If that doesn't work I will burn each video to see if one is corrupt (I have played each on my computer DVD program and they worked so thought they imported okay) By the way they are home videos.

The reason I ask the question about DL and single layer laser is I had a recorder a year ago that quit burning DL but would still burn single and out of frustration I bought another and that solved the problem. Most of my projects are DL and I burn around 150 a year. Always wondered if it was really the burner or just different burner, drivers, or other reason and replaced a burner needlessly.

You will have to tell us what program components you are using to create the iso file and to "copy" the iso to DVD.

How long in time is your project? At what point did you get the 80054003 error? If you got an error then you should not have a valid iso file? Are you unchecking the "Burn to Disc" box when you are burning to the iso file?
