EMC on VirtualBox?

After installing VirtualBox on Feisty and getting Xubuntu up and running as a guest (even got the USB thing going!), I'm considering going virtual with XP. Currently I only need to boot into XP for video work (which isn't happening at the moment). I have gotten Photoshop 7 running in Wine and also Crossover (It's more stable in Crossover) and my favorite text editor, NoteTab Pro, works quite well in Wine as do several other small Windows utilities.

Has anyone here tried EMC in a virtual environment? Are there any glitches? Please share your experiences.

My only personal experience running Windows programs in Ubuntu is using Wine which has worked very well. Haven't gone any further than that. I've thought about trying EMC and maybe when I have some time early next year (that's not too far away) I'll give it a whirl.

I have been playing with VMWare in Windows learning a few other Distros (Sabayan, PClinuxOS, Mandriva) and will stick with Ubuntu.

Maybe Daithi knows more since he's a Gentoo user.

I've done it, but ECD6 is about as high a version that you can get to run.

The root of the problem is twofold - firstly VMWare does NOT support DirectX in any flavour and, secondly, it uses its own generic video drivers.

Basically this stops EMC7 and higher from functioning properly
