Question on importing video

michigan mad men

Question

I'm new here and just started using the video editing part of easy media creator 9 and I've been having a problem. When I hook up my camcorder to my laptop and start importing video clips that all works fine but when I start viewing the clips as I'm editing them the video pauses for a bit while the audio keeps playing. But then I went into the program that came on my computer and did it everything worked fine! Thanks for any input!!

That is not a very good video set up for editing and for capture. If you play the captured video in WMP, does it play OK?

In Video Wave, go to the top menu and select tools, options and put a dot near software. Try again.

Update the drivers for that device. Try first at the manufacturer's web site and then directly from Intel. Update the DirectX 9c from Microsoft also.

Yea it playes fine in WMP

I have a Toshiba Satellite With Windows xp, Centrino Duo prossor, 512 mb ram and 112 gb hard drive. I hope this is all you needed!

Its hooked up through Firewire cable. I get audio and video but the video is choppy.

You missed one of the most important specs - your video card or adapter.

To what format did you capture the video, avi or mpeg? At what point is it choppy? If in preview of Videowave, you can expect the video to be choppy. When capturing/editing/burning you should shut down all other applications, internet, anti-vurus checking

My video card is a Mobile intel® 945GM Express Chipset Family, Memory Size: 128 MB. I hope this is it!! And I have no idea about the video format? How do you tell? it starts getting choppy within about 2-4 sec.

That probably means that the video was captured OK. Did you update the video chip drivers and DirectX 9c? Did you set the program to encode in software mode?

Go to Windows, start > run> type in dxdiag > OK> go to the display tab. What is the driver version number and date?

I would have expected it to be 6.14.31 dated Sept 4, 2007.

Did you get that driver from Toshiba or from Intel? Toshiba may have modified the driver for your laptop so the one from Intel may not work. They do this to help with the battery use. When you installed it, did you follow the install directions?

Did you try the software mode? Make sure you have everything else shut off when you are doing any video work. That includes the internet, your anti-malware and anti-virus programs.

By the way, when you are doing video work, turn off any energy saving features; they make your CPU run at a reduced rate to save battery even when you are working with AC.

At this point, I've run out of ideas.
