Cine Player difficult to use

Rayi

Question

Hello. I am having a difficult time using Cine Player in 9. It took me a while how to figure out how to use it in 7.5 but 9 is far worse in useability. The blue intro screen is kind of strange. I actually don't use it but when my father-in-law had difficulty playing video's in his computer (p3-550), Cine Player in Roxio 7.5 worked well for him. But in Roxio 9, I can't even play a movie I created in Roxio 9. I can't get beyond the movie intro screen. You can't click the actual screen like other players. I've always used DVD pro Cyberlink which has a very clean professional looking interface that is easy to use. You wonder what they were thinking when they made Cine Player.

Yes. I can play that DVD in WMP. I have many DVD's in that same format. It plays fine in CinePlayer from EMC 7.5. Since I was always happy with Cyberlink's DVD Pro, I never bothered to use anything else. I was just curious as too why I can't play the DVD video in EMC 9's CinePlayer when I tried it.

I don't know. Try a repair of the software through Add/Remove Programs. Select Change, not Uninstall.

I discovered that if I hit "Enter", it then takes me to the thumbnail view of each clip. I can then click which clip I want to watch. I wonder why there isn't a button for the mouse to activate the thumbnail view? Although, you would think the DVD icon on the right would take you to the thumbnail view. I had a similar problem with CinePlayer in EMC 7.5 but I realized there was a pull out menu on the right side to play the movie. It works ok now but I don't care for the interface. Way too cumbersome for my taste. I wonder if they changed this interface in Roxio 10? thanks for your time

I know that Cineplayer 10 looks different than Cineplayer in 9. Here is a screenshot of the EMC 10 version. I can't compare it with the ugly interface of the 9 version, because EMC 10 uninstalls the 9 version, during the install. It does leave the 7.5 version alone.

Wait until you see the black background in the CinePlayer in EMC 10.

I don't doubt that your father-in-law had problems playing the video on his old, slow computer.

Let me repeat what I read above. You can get to the menu screen but if you click on one of the movie thumbnails, the player will not start playing that movie -- correct?

Are you asking for help or are you suggesting another program to do what CinePlayer will do for most people. Those types of posts usually are not tolerated by the Roxio Administrators.

You mention EMC 10, but this is the EMC 9 forum. What I was saying regarding my Father-in-law is that CinePlayer in EMC 7.5 works great in his older P3 550. But I am just trying out CinePlayer in EMC9 in my computer and I discovered that I am unable to play a video that I created in EMC 9. I created a Movie using the "Strip" menu background where you initally see the first clip of the Movie. But when I put the DVD in my computer, I cannot get beyond this initial menu background for some reason. I cannot get to the actual thumbnails to beginning playing the movie. Normally you just click the play button again but there is no play button to advance the movie. Clicking the button only pauses the movie. I don't see any other button to use. I am not suggesting use of any other player. I was just saying that I normally use DVD pro. I just wonder why they would create a player that is not easy to use. I must be missing something. Normally playing a movie is easy.
