HomeVideoDVDer
I am attempting to import a video created from a home video. When I open the Roxio Medio import, choose Video, the DVD drive does not show up in the drop down list. 1. I can view the DVD on my PC with Windows Media Player 2. I can view the DVD on my DVD player.
grandpabruce
Didn't someone mention that it did get fixed in the Vista (9.1) update??? I hope the OP comes back to take advantage of all this guru banter I don't know if it was fixed with the 9.1 update, but it does work in EMC 10. However, there is no need to capture from the DVD at all. The files can be used directly, in VideoWave, MyDVD, or Disc Copier.
tbrewst
Now you guys have cleared this up for me. I checked in V9 so maybe it did get fixed then since it was mostly a patch for Vista. And what you're saying makes more sense to do Bruce.Seems like it would be alot less time consuming.

Well sort of… It does not work if the DVD Movie doesn't have any menus! – indicates no movies to import. Likewise if you save the Production in VW but don't Output As, you will be forever tied to the DVD Disc (even the same drive). The project cannot be loaded or used in MyDVD unless the disc is present… In fact you cannot edit or even preview without the disc being present. MyDVD will let you browse to locate the file: But VW has no such capability: I happen to be one who rarely uses the Output As, so it is something I stumbled onto right away! Of course Output As is a way around this, but then you are rendering which takes as long (longer?) than Import.
james_hardin
Did you put the disc in first? If you don't have a disc in the drive it doesn't show up in the dropdown. It never did work in V9… You will have to copy the VIDEO_TS folder to your HD first. Then Media Import will work!
tbrewst
I wasn't aware that it wasn't supossed to work..lol. This is what I get.

When I open the Roxio Medio import, choose Video, the DVD drive does not show up in the drop down list. 1. I can view the DVD on my PC with Windows Media Player 2. I can view the DVD on my DVD player. Make a folder on your computer, and name it as something that has to do with the video on the DVD. Now, copy the contents of that DVD, to your computer. Depending on what you are going to do with the contents, there is no need to import/capture. If you are going to edit the movie, open VideoWave, click on Add Photo/Video, and browse to the Video_TS folder, in the folder that you made, highlight it, and click on Open. You will be asked which files you want to bring in. Bring in all of them. Do whatever editing that you want to do to them, and save your production. james_hardin
What version are you running? I have 900B88F ENU. My drive shows, I select it, then it kicks back to "Select a device or source to import from" GPB will tell you the same.

I believe what you're saying.I just knew that I had done it before. When I first select the drive it takes a second and then the movie shows.
