failure to install emc10

If he's installing from a dvd Frank - it's the retail version

Seriously, it's possible you have a problem with the disc itself - first of all, check for fingerprints, etc on the surface (wouldn't be the first time one of my grandkids got their grubby little jam-soaked paws on a disc)

If it's not that - try copying the contents to a temp folder on the hard drive and run setup.exe from there - if it fails to copy, then you have a faulty disc and I would advise hot-footing it back to where you got it, beat the assistant round the ears with it and say 'Sir - you sold me duff goods - prithee replace it'

When trying to install emc10, it reports that it can not access a file on the dvd. Now the computer will not let me reinstall emc9. Would appreciate any advice

So what is the file name that it is trying to access ?? Where did you EMC program come from ? (download, retail ???)
