RIClayFan
EMC10 has got to be the suckiest program I've ever dealt with. Every time I try to add a simple .mov video in Video Wave, the program stops. I don't have a degree in IS. I just want to make a simple DVD. I don't have time to read thru pages of messages. I find it depressing that there are pages and pages of technical support for this product. I got screwed, didn't I? And it looks like i have lots of comapny. RIClayFan
Congratulations. You just won the incoherent post of the week, contest. And your viewing my post this way just confirms my main gripe about this board. You guys are way above the average user and see all of these novice posts as incoherent. We see yours the same way. It's unfortunate you treat frustrated newbies this way. Not good PR for Roxio. ETA: Thanks for all the help.
gi7omy
RIClay You don't need to be a rocket surgeon to follow some simple steps 1: Start a new thread 2: Tell us WHAT the problem is and what you are doing 3: Tell us your computer specs - RAM, CPU and graphics 4: Be prepared to answer questions if asked or follow suggestions if made Don'ts are a: post to another thread (it's probably not the same thing as you are having) and b: keep vanishing without telling us what is happening (if it works or doesn't work) If there's a previous thread which we feel relevant, we'll tell you where it is Bear in mind that we don't work for Roxio - we're users of the program the same as you are (just been round a bit longer)

Most message boards discourage new threads. I doubt even a "rocket surgeon" could follow this forum. I tried the graphics test suggested for VideoWave. Very cool pulsing black box. WTH does it mean? I realize a lot of you are immersed in tech talk and much of it seems fundamental. It's not. I just want to get some .mov files onto a DVD. When I convert so that I can use my reliable Windows Movie Maker, the video is all jerky. One more thing - MY DVD quits also. If I had known I was testing this stuff for Roxio I'd have asked for a discount. BTW, I have a E6300 Intel Core Duo processor 1024MB memory 320GB hard drive Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 Vista Home ETA to add technical stuff. What most message boards discourage is hijacking threads with posts that are totally irrelevant to the current thread, like you have done. You don't have to be a "rocket surgeon" to read the Help system to find out what the Graphics Test does or what it means.

RIClayFan
We don't work for Roxio. I realize you don't work for Roxio, but since Roxio has decided to link this board you are representing the company. BTW, the thread title, changed by the ever helpful myguggi, is incorrect. I've made many DVD's using video, pics, music and graphics. My original post was under the VideoWave problem thread, which I thought was the logical place. I'm simply a frustrated EMC10 customer trying to get the program to work like it should w/o jumping through hoops.

If it had been up to me, I would have deleted your thread and reported you to the Monitor to be placed on the short list for being banned! And that option still exists! We are more than willing to work through this with you, but will not tolerate bashing a successful product. Your problems are not with the software, but lie elsewhere. We need t to locate them… Let us start with a Clean Install. Print out and follow the instructions to the letter – Here For now, let's eliminate MOV files as they can be trouble prone. Search your PC for mpg or wmv. After the Clean Install, see how these perform.

My original post was under the VideoWave problem thread, which I thought was the logical place. I'm simply a frustrated EMC10 customer trying to get the program to work like it should w/o jumping through hoops. Do you have the latest version of Quicktime installed? It is needed for the codecs to handle mov files. This is started in the system requirements. The graphics test determines if the video card/chip can run the 3D transitions. The result is seen where the encoding dot is placed after the test. If it is near hardware, you can use the 3D transitions and do hardware encoding of the project. Hardware encoding is faster. If it is near software, either your card/chip does not have the power to handle the transitions and hardware encoding or that the drivers need to be updated (in case a person ignores the pop up message.). Many people use software encoding because it tends to be slightly more reliable and the time difference is not all that great. For people with not a lot of experience, I strongly recommend that the posts in the Tips and Tricks area be read and the videos watched. These tips were developed by the users while working with the program and is perhaps a little more detailed than the overviews developed by Roxio. Was there anything else I may have missed? This thread is getting a little long and is tending toward drifting. Perhaps a new thread with the problem restated would be the way to go.
