gbracer
Hello all, HELP!!!! I am currently using a sony handycam, trying to import video to a PC. Roxie 8 is not recognizing the camcorder... I believe that this is because Roxie requires the use of firewire. If this is true are there any work arounds? Thanks in advance. REDWAGON
Best work arond that I would suggest is to use the software that came with the handycam to import the video. Most of Sony's camera etc. will come with that software and usually comes with a suitable cable also. Frank...

What is the model of you Sony? If it has a firewire connection, you should be using a firewire to capture, if you want the best possible quality capture. sknis
What is the model of you Sony? If it has a firewire connection, you should be using a firewire to capture, if you want the best possible quality capture. If your PC doesn't have a Firewire connector, you can buy one of those and install it yourself. the type depends on your computer. Here are some. If you have a laptop or do not wish to get a Firewire card, you can (if the camera is not digital) get a USB capture device such as the DVD 100 that comes with EMC 10 deluxe or something like this. I would suggest that you not scrimp on the capture device. In this case the higher priced ones are usually better because they can capture as mpg or AVI. AVI format is better for editing but capturing to that format depends on your computer. BTW, that one allows you to plug in a Firewire device so it also converts Firewire to USB. Of course if you have a laptop, you can get a plug in Firewire card.
