DVD DL burning on Toast 8

JohnnyConthismofo

Question

I have encountered a problem that I have only noticed on DVD DL disc. Toast would say it is a complete burn when the tracker still shows that there is 45%-50% remaining. The DVD would play for about 1 hour, then it would attempt to skip over the bad part. This has only happened on DVD DL disc's, upon using DVD-R and burning them at a slower speed (1x) they have come out flawless. Has anyone else had this problem with Toast 8, which is upgraded to the newest one, and using DVD DL. Am I able to use DVD DL because it has the option of using them to burn but it doesn't burn them 100%. Thanks.

Does your drive support burning DL media? Double check by seeing what Apple System Profiler says is supported in the Disc Burning list. It should include "+R DL".

If it does support DL burning and you used media other than Verbatim DVD+R DL then try again with the Verbatim media.

My DVD writer supports media of -R, - R DL, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW, so all media types except Blue Ray. I have switched regular blank DVD -R, and I have only had 2 not burn, and I am convinced that is because I bumped my computer both times because the other 5 times it has worked perfect. So I am going to stick to what I am using now. The brand I did use at first was Verbatim, now I am using Memorex.
