Recovering from Backup MyPC file

Then how about if I create a CD/DVD with just Windows and then do a complete restore from the hard disk after? The intention of the full restore would be to restore all the other software (including links to the OS) and the registry. This process may also have the same problem: once Windows is overwritten the USB hard drive will become unusable.

The goal is to do a full restore without having to use numerous CDs/DVDs.

DR does not allow you to just select Windows to back up. To get what you want, I suggest you do a regular full backup of your hard drive, backing up everything including system state. Then If you run into a problem, install Windows, install BUMP, then do a full restore overwriting everything. That will limit what you have to reinstall.
