Question

Hi, not sure if this is where this post should go but this is a great site glad I found it because I have a problem that I can't figure out. I have a Sony DCR-SR42 hard drive camcorder and have installed the software that came with it so I can burn DVDs of the things that I record. The problem is that when I go to burn a DVD and preview what I have made there is no sound.

I would also like to add that when I watch whatever I have recorded using one of the programs on my computer there is no sound. Also, when I play a DVD, i.e. movie, using one of the programs on my computer there is no sound. The programs are Windows Media Player, Sonic CinePlayer, or Windows Media Center. DVDs that I have made using Windows Movie Maker do have sound in these programs. I'm thinking that there may be a problem here somewhere because I haven't been able to play a DVD and have sound with these programs for several weeks now but am at a loss.

Also, when I download the Picture Motion Browser it becomes impossible to burn a DVD on Roxio. Only when I remove Picture Motion Browser can I burn DVDs. Any help would be apprecated. Thank You.

Well I got things working. I was thinking about the things that it could be and what it couldn't be. The only thing I could think of that had been down loaded to my computer was Nero. So, I thought what the heck and I uninstaled it. Don't know if it was a component or what it was but all my programs are working now. I have sound when I play a DVD now. Thanks for all your responces. Even the littlest of comments can get one thinking. Thanks

If you allowed it to install InCD, that might have been the problem. Other suspect might be Nero Showtime, although I have had Nero and other applications installed with no problem. Something else is that at the end of the Nero install, it asks what suffixes (like mp3, mpg, etc) you want to associate with the Nero apps. Default is to select all, where I normally select none and will individually have it override later.

I have to ask, but since you state it is all sound, have you verified that:

1. Sound is not on mute

2. volume not turned all the way down

3. speakers are plugged in and in the right plug

4. speakers are not unplugged from their power supply

Not trying to be smart, but the simplest things are what usually get overlooked. Have had people have the same problem, and when they really checked those four, they found somehow it got muted or one of the "kids" did something.

Some information on what program you are using would definitely be helpful. We have no idea what software you have or what you are doing

marlinsinger, Oh yes I understand what you are saying. I did check those things first. The funny thing is that I can play music with Musicmatch Jukebox or play a DVD made from Windows Movie Maker. But when I try to play a movie on Windows Media player or CinePlayer I have no sound. After I have instaled Picture Motion Browser 2.0.06 I can't burn anything with Roxio, the error message comes up saying it can't continue. After I uninstall Motion Browser 2.0.06 then I am able to burn with Roxio. I have Windows XP on my computer.

I never thought of the Nero app causing conflicts. I will remove the Nero bundle and see if it clears up my Video issues.

Nero's InCD will not coexist with Sonic's DLA or Roxio's Direct CD or Drag to Disc. The packet writers clash.

Regards,

Brendon

I've read about Sony's Picture Motion Browser not being compatible with other UDF writers.Do you by chance have either Roxio's Drag to Disc or Sonic's DLA on your machine? If so try removing them and then seeing if the 2 softwares will play together nicely.
