Sound Editor extracts mono from stereo cd

mstax

Question

My first attempt to extract directly from a stereo cd-r into Sound Editor resulted in a 2-track mono file... which I only noticed wasn't in stereo when I went to check the track insertions - it was an hour-long, 1-track aircheck of a radio show.

The (annoying) workaround: rip the cd-r using Adobe Audition, then import that into Sound Editor to have a stereo file to work with.

Wasted time, made a coaster, and still don't know why Sound Editor would convert a stereo cd-r into a 2-track mono file!?!

Acer laptop / 2g ram / Vista HP / etc... I'm convinced the computer is not the problem... btw the track-add part works great... time-consuming, but the results are excellent; turning an hour-long track into gapless, multi-tracks so I can quickly and accurately reach exact points in the program. I just don't get why a mono rip.
