Pal to NTSC convert full DVD

Baha

Question

Can Popcorn 3 on Mac OSX 10.5 Leopard convert an unencrypted DVD from PAL to NTSC format.? I've been trying to use Video_TS to Burn a PAL DVD when I have NTSC selected under Popcorn Preferences and the DVD that's burned is still in PAL format. Any ideas here.?

You need to do it differently.

Place the source VIDEO_TS folder on the desktop. Choose DVD-video as the format in the DVD section. Make sure the Media Browser window is open and choose DVD with the top button of the browser. Your VIDEO_TS folder (under a different name) will appear in the browser window. Double-click on it so the browser shows the individual titles inside the VIDEO_TS. Select whatever titles you want and add them to the main Popcorn window.

Popcorn now extracts the MPEG files from the VIDEO_TS. Set up the window the way you want your DVD's menu to look. Now choose Save as Disc Image from the File menu. Popcorn should ask if you really want to convert the PAL video to NTSC. After you click okay the transcoding will occur and eventually the disc image will be written.

Mount the disc image to preview it with DVD Player. If you're happy with the result burn it to DVD using Popcorn's Image File setting.

Thank you for explaining how this is supposed to be done with Popcorn 3. I'm giving it a shot now. Looks like the menu is recreated by Popcorn as I do this. Is there anyway to preserve the original DVD menu and just convert Videos from PAL to NTSC ?

Sorry, can't be done. However, there are inexpensive DVD players that will play PAL DVDs with NTSC TVs. I believe Philips makes at least one.
