Unable to get video off ancient camcorder

DanoKeller

Question

I recently purchased EMC9-Deluxe w/ the Dazzle DVC90. My camcorder is a SamsungSCX915 8mm (at least 11 yrs old but works great).

Had TONS of problems getting the DVC90 recognized and working! EMC still shuts down sometimes when I choose the DVC90 as the device to receive video through. When I don't get the error I get to the video import and the preview window shows exactly what I see inside my camcorder's view finder "Stop <time>".

Then I click "Capture Now", EMC shows receipt of a signal and in my view finder I see the video playing but there is nothing happening on the preview window. If I stop the camcorder from playing then the screen both in the view finder and EMC's preview pane goes back to "Stop <time>" and both are in sync. No video though is captured.

After reading a number of the posts I tried capturing the video using Windows Movie Maker with the exact same issue there.

Help!

Welcome to the club, never got mine to work…

Now my DataVideo DAC-100 A/D converter connects with a Firewire. There is NO software, drivers or even a disc. It has worked since I plugged it in 8/05 and never missed a beat.

But you might want to check thier site and see if a magical driver has been issued.

I was able to use the DVC 90 (and now the DVC 100). Go to Pinnacle's site and make sure you have the right driver installed for it.

The trick is to get everything set up in the right order. I think that I had to have the camera on and paused when I plugged in the DVC 90, waited and then captured. It has been awhile however but I do remember that a trick was required; I just don't remember the sequence.
