factory reboot of my hard drive, can BOT restore?

Lake

Question

When my touch pad on my laptop stopped working, I sent it into assure (City Circuit warranty company) who rebooted my entire hard drive. Unfortunately, I did not back up my hard drive, and lost all of my photos, palm desktop, and documents. Is ANY of it retrievable with BOT?? Thanks for your help! Lake

Hello Lake,

If they've restored your hard drive to factory condition without checking with you first, they've been grossly negligent. I would complain loud and long about that to your vendor. They should have got you to copy your irreplaceable data first, or else done it for you.

This process is usually done by writing the factory disc image over your hard drive. It is very quick and easy for lazy, tired, or dumb techs to do, and leaves not a trace of whatever was there before.

If this is what they've done, BoT won't be able to get anything back off that hard drive, I'm sorry.

Regards,

Brendon

Thank you Brendon for your reply. I feel so sad, and stupid that I did not back it up first. I had sent it in before to this company, and had backed up everything, but it came back intact. So, I assumed the same thing would occur again. NOT!!

I copied and pasted your reply to assurant@circuit city.

Thanks again for your information.

Sincerely,

p.s. Is there any free trials of Bot?
