Problems Using JPG / JPEG Images In EMC 8 Projects
The information in this article applies to:
Easy Media Creator 8
Applicable Operating Systems:
Windows 2000 Professional
Windows XP Home / Pro / Media Center
Windows XP Professional x64 Edition
Issue:
When attempting to use certain JPG / JPEG image files in Easy Media Creator 8 applications you may not be able to add them to a project. Additionally when you try to open these same images in PhotoSuite 8 you will just be returned to the main PhotoSuite screen and the image will not be opened.
This is caused by JPEG image files which contain invalid EXIF (metadata) information.
Solution:
Users experiencing this issue may download and install the following hotfix:
Once you download and install this hotfix you should then be able to use the affected JPEG images in your EMC 8 application of choice.
If you receive a message that a file is in use during the installation this may be because a service that we are attempting to close for installation is not responding. Please wait 5-10 seconds and then choose 'RETRY'. If the file still appears in use you should close the following processes manually in Windows Task Manager in the following order if they exist:
