The information in this article applies to:

Easy Media Creator 8

Applicable Operating Systems:

Windows 2000 Professional

Issue:

When attempting to burn a project (or output to ISO image) in MyDVD 8 you may receive the following error message:

Error 80004005 - Error While Encoding Menu

Solution:

1) Contact your video card manufacturer for the latest video card drivers. If you purchased your computer as a complete system (like Dell or HP), then go to the manufacturer's website for the latest drivers.

If you purchased your video card separately, then you will need to find out your make and model and go to the video card manufacturer's website to download.

Windows XP: Go to My Computer and choose Properties.

Windows Vista: Go to Start --> Control Panel --> System and Maintenance --> Device Manager.

Click on the Hardware tab.

Select Device Manager

Double-click Display Adapters. You're video card make and model is displayed.

To find out the driver details (such as version), right click on the make and model under Display adapter, and select Properties.

2) Please close any running instances of VideoWave or MyDVD and then download and install the following hotfix:

http://tools.roxio.com/support/c8/emc8_menuencode_hotfix.exe

Once the installation is complete you may should launch MyDVD and try to burn your project again.

Edit by John at Roxio - This patch is intended for and tested with EMC 8. We have had at least one report of this causing problems with EMC 9. As it remains untested with EMC 9, you may want to ensure that you will be able to restore your system to a point before the patch was applied in case you have any problems applying it on a system running EMC 9.
