What's new or fixed in 10.0.1?

iNexxFear

Question

Hello Folks,

I went out to the website today to see if there were any updates, and I noticed that there is a 720 MB Download for an update to Roxio 10 which will bring it up to 10.0.1.

First of all, how do you know if this is installed on your device or not....

Secondly has anyone applied it and found any dramatic improvements, or know the improvements included in this update? Its a heafty file, but since the original comes on DVD I know that there's alot more content too...

Any insight you can offer as to what it contains does, or how you can tell would be appreciated...

Because if I go into the main menu which launches the others, I see Roxio 10, Version 1.0.0.044 and other items like creator classic read Version 10, Build 100B44B ENU. Nothin I can find has a 10.0.0 or other numbering...

Mucho Gracias Folks!

Hello Folks,

I went out to the website today to see if there were any updates, and I noticed that there is a 720 MB Download for an update to Roxio 10 which will bring it up to 10.0.1.

I found this yesterday. Unfortunately, in the process I discovered yet another problem with this "interesting" software.

The "Software Manager" that is supposed to find updates managed to throw up an "Internet Explorer Script Error". Software Manager then just sits there with a "Please Wait..."

Seems to be related to sonic.com.

I somehow did get the update. But a double click on it delivers nothing but a quick flash. None of the usual install stuff.

I would look at the "About" slot but the Roxio 10 "front page" takes about an hour to load here, that is NOT an exaggeration, so I usually bypass it and go straight to the module I need.

It's an updater, so it needs the program installed before it can update it.

Otherwise it would be called a 'freely downloadable full install'. TANSTAAFL applies.

Brendon

I just used the "updater" to install the program on a clean system. It seemed to work just fine. Well, other than EMC10 still has the same problems that my original install with the DVD had. I've tried both ways, running it with the original installed, and then running it after completely removing everything as described in the "clean install" threads. It seems to be the whole program, you just need the activation key to run, like from the DVD. It didn't stop installing when the original program wasn't there.

But it could just ask for serial on installation.

Majority of software these days can be downloaded in full version, requiring then just some kind of activation after purchase.

I had NTLDR issues, had to recover via backup files, and have not tried to reinstall EMC 10.0

So now comes the update with no special instructions on how to re-install 10.0 without wiping out the root files once more?

Reading the other posts, can I assume that when it says "you need to reboot" after installing 10.0 that I should NOT reboot but immediately run the 10.0.1 EXE?

Did you read this post (link). It is pinned at the top of this section of the forum.

Ok... so let me ask another nieve question as my updater is removing my old and getting ready to install the new....

Since I have the Roxio 10 CD which has the program (which is being updated) and the content, how do I get the content back in after the update completes?

I don't think the 700 MB file would have this seeing how everything came on 1 DVD rom before.

Feedback towards this process is also appreciated!

So I go through the process, it goofs up my download manager so I need to fix that and my versions still match that of all those listed above.

I don't see the fix... Was this only appliable to folks who downloaded and not had a CD... Again, there is no spot on any of these screens that say 10.0.1...

So I'm confused... I am paying attention, it just does not seem to have done anything...

I haven't installed it, so I don't know if you see a change. Check Creator Classic, and see if it says anything about 10.0.1, but I don't really think it changed any programs.

Do all of your programs work?

10.0.1 basically fixes the NTLDR problem you may have seen discussed on the boards. Not sure what or where you saw the update but you can learn all about what it does here.

So this was that critical update that came in via the udpater that was really small then... I just don't understand why they then realeased this 720 MB Update... And again, how can you confirm that 10.0.1 is totally active or installed accurately?

Open up the Home screen and click on Help then About this software and you'll see the Version and build numbers.

The site says:

This Easy Media Creator 10.0.1 update/download does not offer any new features except it addresses NTLDR issue on some systems.

You can search on the word NTLDR in this forum if you need more information on the NTLDR issue.

Also, the update should be installed on the system, not on a device.

My guess is that the version you mentioned in your post should actually be Version 10.0.044. So if you install the update it should become Version 10.0.1

PS: I just saw Beerman already provided the link to NTLDR thread.

Pay attention! It is a fix for the NTLDR…

Mr. Hardin,

I am, we ALL are paying attention. I don't appreciate your tone. You have no business treating me or anyone else like a moron, because you think we ask simple or niave questions. If this software was even half as friendly as it should be, you probably wouldn't have nearly as many posts as you have scored. As a moderator, if this posting is making you cranky. well....

Many people here have had a LOT of unnecessary, time consuming and expensive problems. If you're a moderator why don't you be a little more friendly. Doesn't ROXIO need customers ?

A 700 MB download with no additional features is hardly a simple fix ! Can you imagine one bug would necessitate a 700 MB "fix". The "update" apparently unloads much if not all of the previous program version. Or is it actually adding 700 MB of new code ? People want to know.

Although EMC is working (for the most part) on my machine now, and I'm no dummy, buddy, It still is a big question mark in my more than 20 years experience. Forgive me of being leery for all the reasons so well stated by others here, even just in this thread, as well as my own questions about the stabilityof this software, how it affects my computer and some of Roxio's business policy.

Mr Hardin is not a moderator just a user like you as are all the posters in this forum. The occasional Roxio poster will pop in and you can recognize them since they have Roxio symbol under their name. If you have questions about Roxio and their policies, ask them directly.

iNexxFear, First of all, how do you know if this is installed on your device or not....

The update will only install on a windows os with a previous version of the software.

malatekid, Also, the update should be installed on the system, not on a device.

Does the updater have a choice where to install, device or system!
