audio/video sync

mooviemaker

Question

Just installed EMC 10 (previously had EMC 7). Video gets hung up or drags while the audio plays fine. It did that while I had EMC 7 too. I've optimized and defragged and cleaned disk. I close other programs while working in VideoWave. What other info do you need? Is there something I can download for faster video playback?

Soundblaster Video Card

Windows XP Home Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 2

Intel ® 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller (just updated the driver for that)

80 Gig Hard Drive (25 Gig free space)

Intel ®, Pentium ® 4 CPU 2.66 GHz

2.66 GHz, 1.00 GB of RAM

Are you running the latest drivers for you on-board video controller? the latest DirectX? Have switched to "software" rendering when in Videowave under Tools/Options?

Exactly at what point does the problem occur?

I downloaded/updated the driver for the Graphics controller yesterday. Not sure about the latest DirectX... not sure what that means (not very computer literate). I will try switching to software rendering. Are there faster processors that I can download?

The problem can start as early as the very beginning of the first video clip in the storyboard/timeline, and it usually happens at the start of a video clip. Sometimes it doesn't happen at all, but it seems to happen more frequently since I switched to EMC 10.

I just checked the software rendering option and it was already set to software.

Hmmmm. Don't be sorry. I stand corrected. How did you get it to work?

When I first got my computer EMC 7/7.5 did not work with the graphics controller, so I got a PCI video card (see signature) which failed June last year. So I went back to using the on-board grapics, installed the latest drivers from Intel for the chip set and it all works except for the 3D features.

Do you have any insight into my video/audio sync problem?

What kind of video clips are you using? Where do they come from? what format are they?

To check which version of DirectX you have: click on the Start icon on the task bar, the select Run and then type dxdiag in the Run window that opens and the select Ok. The Diagnostic Window should open and the DirectX version is given at the bottom of the System listing. Pleas list your version number.
